National Cybersecurity Awareness Month made easy

August 27, 2019 by Tyler Schultz

National Cybersecurity Awareness Month is here! As cybersecurity educators, we jump at opportunities like NCSAM to shine the spotlight on cybersecurity best practices and we’re here to help you do the same. Whether you’re a security awareness rockstar who sings cybersecurity best practices year-round or if October is your one chance to take center stage, we want to help you make the most of National Cybersecurity Awareness Month.

That’s why we built an NCSAM Toolkit including themed posters, infographics and articles to make this October the best National Cybersecurity Awareness Month yet. Our resources are relatable, conversation and (dare I say) fun! Use our NCSAM Toolkit to make cybersecurity an open topic of discussion at your organization and position your team as partners in the fight against the bad guys.

Own IT. Secure IT. Protect IT.

The 2019 National Cybersecurity Awareness Month theme emphasizes personal accountability and the importance of taking proactive steps to stay cybersecure at work and at home.

We’ve made it easy for you to drive this year’s theme home with resources covering each of the 10 messages from this year’s NCSAM campaign:

Own IT.

  • Never click and tell: staying safe on social media
  • Update privacy settings
  • Keep tabs on your apps: best practices for device applications

Secure IT.

  • Shake up your passphrase protocol: create strong, unique passphrases
  • Double your login protection: turn on multi-factor authentication
  • Shop safe online
  • Play hard to get with strangers: how to spot and avoid phish

Protect IT.

  • If you connect, you must protect: updating to the latest security software, web browser and operating systems
  • Stay protected while connected: Wi-Fi safety
  • If you collect it, protect it: keeping customer/consumer data and information safe
