Introduction

Like other CompTIA certifications, the CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+) exam is provided by CompTIA’s global testing partner, Pearson VUE. Pearson VUE provides computer-based testing across the globe.

Once you are fully prepared and ready to take your CySA+ certification exam, you need to visit Pearson VUE’s website to locate an authorized test center near you and to schedule your exam. You can choose the exam option which is the most appropriate for you.

In this article, we will shed some light on the CySA+ cert examination process, learn how to schedule the CySA+ exam and examine the CySA+-specific testing exam policies.

How can I schedule my CySA+ test?

As mentioned before, a candidate needs to schedule his or her CySA+ exam through the Pearson VUE website. He or she is required to follow four easy steps on the Pearson VUE website to schedule the test. They are:

1. Creating an account on the Pearson VUE website

Creating a testing account on the Pearson VUE website is necessary to register for your CySA+ certification exam. Once the account has been created, you are required to store your testing information along with details regarding your testing center.

2. Locating a Pearson VUE testing center

When scheduling your CySA+ exam, you will be able to select the testing center of your choice. Pearson VUE offers testing centers in a wide variety of locations. You can select the one which is nearest to you.

3. Scheduling your exam

You can schedule, reschedule or cancel your CySA+ exam appointment on the Pearson VUE website. Purchasing a voucher is also mandatory to continue your examination process. You can buy the voucher either on the Pearson VUE website or through the CompTIA store. The exam voucher contains a unique code allows the candidate to take his or her exam at an authorized test center.

CompTIA offers different methods to purchase and pay for the voucher. Individual and volume purchase offers either one or multiple exam vouchers through CompTIA store. Bundle purchase offers a discount to candidates. Students can get a 49% discount with CompTIA CertMaster training, as well as a free exam retake. Large volume exam vouchers involve prices up to the $25,000 within one order.

Three payment options are available to pay for your CySA+ exam. They are through credit card, PayPal or through a purchase order. A credit card can be used on both CompTIA store and on Pearson VUE. Each testing center offered by Pearson VUE also offers exam purchases at its location. On the other hand, PayPal payments are only accepted by the CompTIA store.

Using the purchase order method will only work if you get your ‘evolving credit application approved through pearsonvuevoucherstore@pearson.com. Once it is approved, you can purchase vouchers via Pearson Store as well as via the CompTIA store. You can also schedule your CySA+ exam by phone call or by contacting your testing center directly through Pearson VUE.

4. Saving your exam appointment confirmation

Once your CySA+ exam date is scheduled successfully, you will be notified through a confirmation email. This email includes your registration information and additional information that you need on the exam day or at your testing center. You should save all this information in a safe place to ensure its availability at test time. For example, your email address is required to sign in to your certification account once you have passed your CySA+ exam.

If you are logging in for the first time since Oct 15, 2009, you must register again. To this end, you need to click on the “Never logged in before?” link given below the account-login information text boxes under the Candidate Login page.

What do I need to know about exam testing policies?

In various circumstances, the CompTIA CySA+ exam is delivered in non-English speaking countries where a localized version of CySA+ exam isn’t available. The candidates in these countries, having English as a Second Language (ESL), are provided a 30-minute time extension for the CySA+ exam. However, ESL isn’t offered in countries where English is the first language.

ESL is automatically assigned to students in eligible countries when scheduling a CySA+ exam at Pearson VUE. It is important to note that ESL is also granted in Quebec, Canada. If you are living in Quebec and want to take CySA+ exam, you can take advantage of ESL accommodation by contacting Pearson VUE. It’s essential to contact them in advance, because ESL isn’t automatically granted in Quebec.

It should be noted that CompTIA doesn’t allow reviewing the exam content, due to security reasons. However, you can raise a fair concern or comments about the exam questions. Under such circumstances, you will submit a ticket, at which point CompTIA’s Subject Matter Expert (SME) committee will review all concerns, comments and suggestions made by you. It is important to note that CompTIA will not respond to the comments or concerns regarding the exam contents individually.

In the case of any suspicion of aberrant or fraudulent test scores, CompTIA reserves the right to ask any student to retake the CySA+ exam. The time of the retest exam will be mutually agreeable. However, the retest will take place at a facility of CompTIA’s selection.

Conclusion
