In celebration of National Cybersecurity Career Awareness Week (NCCAW), we just launched a new career resource site to boost awareness of cybersecurity career opportunities. The new page offers aspiring information security professionals free career and IT certification resources and an invitation to an instructor-led webinar, Cybersecurity Careers: Setting Yourself Apart in a Competitive Field.
Sponsored by the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE), NCCAW is a national celebration to inspire, educate and encourage others to pursue careers in cybersecurity. The program begins November 13 and runs through November 18.
“We’re proud to help NICE boost awareness of the growing IT skill shortage,” said Jack Koziol, InfoSec Institute President and Founder. “ISACA predicts a global shortage of two million cybersecurity professionals by 2019. With cybersecurity impacting nearly every aspect of our personal and professional lives, skilled IT professionals play a critical role in keeping our data safe.”
The NCCAW celebration follows the release of new data showing more than half of IT professionals lack confidence in their ability to prevent, detect and resolve data breaches.
“A major skill shortage and ever-evolving cybersecurity threatscape is a direct threat to our national security,” said Davina Pruitt-Mentle, Academic Engagement Lead at NICE. “We’re excited to see InfoSec Institute bolstering awareness of this important issue. Encouraging others to enter the cybersecurity field can keep our infrastructure safe and strengthens our economy.”
